You don’t know me, not the real me. You only see what I want you to see. That’s all about to change. You see, I am a Christian. What does that mean? Well, it means a lot of things to different people. To me, being a Christian means that I have a relationship with God. I have accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of my life and I want to live like He lived on earth. The only problem with that is; He was perfect and I am not. Because I am a sinner, God sent His only son to earth to pay the penalty for my sin. Jesus came down, lived a perfect life, was crucified on the cross and died so that I may have eternal life. He rose again after three days and still lives today. I will spend eternity with Him in Heaven.
In the meantime, while I’m here on this earth, I will strive to live a life like Jesus did. Unfortunately, because I am human, a sinner and far from perfect, it makes this a difficult task. I will struggle and I will make many mistakes, and I will ask my Father in Heaven to forgive me. He never said this life would be easy, in fact, He says we will face many trials. These trials are meant to teach us. When we struggle, we can strengthen our trust and faith in Him. His ways are so much better than ours and although we may not understand at times, He promises to work all things for our good. In the Bible, Psalm 139:23-24 says, “search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.”
God is the only one that knows my true heart. He is the only one that I cannot hide pieces of myself from. I can choose to be who I want to anyone, except Him. Well, today, I am choosing to be transparent. If I am going to truly follow God, shouldn’t I be able to be myself?
Let’s face it; we care about what others think, right? It’s human nature. So, we want people to think we’re happy when we’re sad, rich when we haven’t got a dime and in the perfect relationship when we’re miserable with our partner. We want them to think we have it all together when we’re actually falling apart. Why is that?!? Whatever the reason, we will lie, embellish the truth, omit the truth, say and do things to make others think what we want them to think. We will even go so far as to lie to ourselves and all the while, God knows the truth. Isn’t it a shame that we care more about what others think about us than what He thinks?
So, today I am starting a new journey and I invite you along. You will know the real me, in all situations. You will know how I truly feel, how I act and the results. You’ll even know when I make mistakes. I can assure you, you’ll laugh and cry. I bet you’ll even become angry and at times you’ll not understand my actions, but I encourage you to share your opinions, thoughts and feedback. I hope to make this an interactive learning process for us.
Welcome to ‘Search Me’.
Not at all what you thought you’d read with the Daily Prompt of Vegetal… LOL.
